Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut. Originally, I was planning on having nine inches chopped off, but then today my hair didn't look that terrible (it has a sixth sense. It always knows when scissors are near.) and I began to question everything. I like my hair when it's like this:
Or with a bit of emo side parting action, like this:
I also like being able to do this with it, as it makes me feel like I'm in a Pantene Pro V advert, or one of the Herbal Essence ads (note: orgasms not included, coincidental sadface):
But most of the time, my hair makes me feel like this:
That's me pretending to tear my hair out, in case it was too subtle for you.
Because it's a bitch to brush:
Plus if I don't shave my legs for a few days, I end up looking like a yeti. True story.
I don't know whether to go for the whole to-the-shoulders hack, or if I should just have a few choppy layers put through, because I do love my hair, but it is a lot of effort for someone as low maintenance as me (read: lazy). It's what I like to call a Nelly and Kelly Dilemma.
So I'm calling on you, bloggers of the world (/the two people who actually read my blog), what's a girl to do??

Oh gosh, I'm totally in the same situation - some days when I really hype myself up to chop it off it ALWAYS ends up looking nice, it's so frustrating!!
ReplyDeleteflawedfairytale.blogspot.com
Personally I could never commit to chopping so much hair off! Once you go back it's impossible to grow it back :O Your hair looks so beautiful though, that I'm sure that either way would work!
ReplyDeleteMili from call me, Maeby
I had a pixie for a while, & I loved it. Most days I just had let it air dry, put some product in & go! Now, I'm not suggesting you go to that extreme, but right now I have an A-Line bob & it's working out pretty well for me :)

I love this post! I really do love your hair long and I'd hate for you to regret getting it cut. I think either keep it really long, or get it really short. May swell go all the way! xx
ReplyDeleteCupcakes And Cocaine
Oof...such a big decision. I'm generally one for big, spur of the moment changes. PlusI think you would be FIERCE with some short hair action.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the results...

amazing ♥
ReplyDeleteHa, I always regret cutting my hair but usually because I don't seem to speak hairdresser and "just a trim please, I'm trying to grow it" is apparently code for "I'd love a fringe please" (true story). You don't seem the type to get yourself into a similar situation but maybe hedge your bets and get 4.5" off first? Also loving your hair band. I wish I'd kept mine x Becky

Been there - got 6 inches hacked off by a trainee when I asked for a trim! My current hairdresser's really great though, thankfully. x
DeleteDON'T DO ITTTTTTTTT! Although, this is coming from the the very biased perspective of somebody embracing pure dye-less, heat-less ugly in order to grow their hair. If you do cut it off, feel free to send some this way though.
ReplyDeleteThis necklace is fun too.

this is sucha great post haha but your hair always looks lovely anyways!

You have lovely hair but it is up to you! I swear hair knows when you are going to the hairdresser as the day before you always have a good hair day! lol
ReplyDeleteMaydoll
Your hair is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a catch 22 situation though, you cut it, you'll want it back, but then you have 'mad' hair days where you want it cut.lol
why not go in between the length it is now and your shoulders..? :/

I have similar hair to you and need to go to the hairdressers now too. I think layers always works best, the side parting you created looks really gorgeous on you, xoxo.

I loved this post darling, it made me smile :) I love your hair - both the colour and the length but I understand your hair 'dilemma' - I say add some layers and that's your locks sorted!

You have a very nice blog! And btw, i feel you. I have the same problem! haha!

I have the same problem!! And my hair goes exactly like yours when I want it to be all swish and sexy! I wouldn't chop it all off though, if you wanna go short do it bit by bit. I'm going for a change by having a full fringe cut in (tonight!) which i am so scared about...I won't be able to look all swish anymore... uh oh questioniinnggg...
ReplyDeleteI too have one of those name headbands, it's awful but secretly I love it. As a person with quite short hair I am massively jealous of yours, it looks so thick and swishy. But you've probably been to the hairdressers by now, what did you doooo to it? xxx
ReplyDeleteyour hair is so perfect i wouldn't get so many inches cut off! i made the decision to have shoulder length hair a year ago or so and it's only just started to grow back :( < to be fair though my hair isn't very fast growing hahaha, but i say get layers or even have it thinned out at the ends cause then it'll be much easier to manage, also can't believe i've only just discovered your blog but i'm now definitely following x x
ReplyDeletehttp://500daysofchloe.blogspot.co.uk/
I sooooo hope you didn't get it all chopped off , your hair is beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteHaha, this really made me laugh! You hair is gorgeous, think about it seriously before you go for the chop. I mean, I do think change is good. I always try new things with my hair as it'll always grow back!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have really short hair and cannot grow it past bob-length as it's so fine, so cherish your long locks!

You are bloody hilarious, I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate, I've always wondered if I should do a dramatic cut to my hair.
If you are really unsure about it maybe just cut it till an inch or two below the collarbone.
Have you ever thought about changing your hair colour? That will give you a fresher appreciation of your hair ;)
Your still gorgeous even if you don't do anything at all. Can't wait to see how it all turns out xx

Your hair is gorgeous :D The colour and length is beautiful :) I remember when I went from the transition of having extremely long hair to just above the shoulder in Sixth form- i almost cried haha. Took me a while to get used to it.
ReplyDeleteI think a few choppy layers will look gorgeous on you.
Can't wait to see uploads of your new hair :D
