REVLON 'REALLY RED' LIPSTICK.
This is my "almost HG' red lipstick. It's hovering around the periphery somewhat, I've not quite made up my mind. I do LOVE it though. I used to wear red lipstick all the time a few years back, after my granny gave me a red Revlon that she no longer wanted. It was the most perfect colour ever: a true, blue red. I misplaced it at some point and have never been able to replace it - everything was always too orange and ended up relegated to the back of my make up drawer (that's rather a grand term for such a messy drawer full of disorganised face crap, Felicity.). This one is wonderful. It's from the matte range and it has fantastic staying power and isn't drying. I really rate L'Oreal lipsticks, I'd forgotten how good they are.

SHU UEMURA EYELASH CURLERS.
I can't believe it took me this long to get my filthy paws on these babies. They're my new favourite things ever - they open up my eyes so much and actually keep my eyelashes curled. It's like I'm seeing clearly for the first time in years, guyz.
(No but seriously though.).
MAYBELLINE ILLEGAL LENGTHS WATERPROOF MASCARA.
After years (eight, count 'em) of being a Diorshow devotee, I decided to try the high street once more. I've always found most drugstore mascara too "wet" for my taste (I hate Maybelline Great Lash with a passion, I hate almost all Rimmel. Although I also hate YSL mascaras for the same reason too, so obviously there's no pleasing me.), but I took a chance (despite the awful name) and was pleasantly surprised. It lengthens lashes ("up to 4mm") and the ends don't go sort of wonky or flakey like with other lengthening mascaras I've used.

This is worth the extra few pennies. I used it a few days ago and my skin still feels lovely and soft. It's quite warming (as the name would suggest!) when applied, which is really pleasant when it's as cold as it has been recently!
OH HONEY HONEY
Excellent to eat (I've had an obsession with honey sandwiches for years, there's something quite decadent about butter and honey I think. I'm a pretty cheap date.), excellent to put on your face. I've been using Rowse Acacia Honey on my face every other day for two weeks and it has helped with brightening and detoxing my skin. Slather on your face (warm it between your hands first), leave on for an hour and then wash off with cold water.
It's not exactly a secret that I have a mild extraordinarily huge and creepy crush on Ryan Gosling. I saw this film for the first time earlier in the month and it absolutely tore my heart to pieces. I was a puddle of tears and sadness by the end. Don't watch it if you're feeling delicate, for the love of god.
After a somewhat unsuccessful attempt (I only got to page 50) at reading The Time Traveller's Wife - aka the book that finally knocked Ian McKewan's Enduring Love off the top spot for most irritating, unlovable characters - I started this. It's a good book (it does drag for a bit in the middle though, just a warning), with believable characters, from the viewpoint of a Bangladeshi woman called Nanzeen who is married off and sent to live in Tower Hamlets, London. The main theme is culture shock and the latter half is set set in the aftermath of the Twin Tower attacks, showing the effect that this had on the Muslim community. What's brilliant how Nanzeen grows from a meek, obedient woman into a much stronger one.

In other news: am planning on selling my internal organs on the black market so that I can buy the Valentines Mulberry Alexa BECAUSE I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL IN MY LIFE.

You can never go wrong with a bold red lip!

Each time I read an ode to the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers I declare it to be the review that's finally convinced me to make the investment. Yours has most definitely tipped me over the edge so much so that I've probably going to break my spending ban in the name of improved vision x
ReplyDeleteGah Blue Valentine turned me into a sobbing mess, I loved it. I really need to get decent curlers that don't rip my eyelashes out, these look tempting!xo
ReplyDeleteI really want to try this mascara! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI always say I'm going to shu eumera eyelash curler cause the one I use currently is just subpar. As for the mascara, I'm also a diorshow addict but maybe now I will try this one out!

Ah YES I'm so happy there's somebody else who doesn't like Enduring Love either! I find it completely baffling that both The Time Traveller's Wife and McEwan's entire collection are regarded so highly - awful. After seeing Brick Lane on your blog (Or Twitter? I don't remember.) a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon it in a box of reduced English books in a strange Swedish bookshop and decided that was fate telling me to buy it, so I did. Not that I've gotten around to starting it yet, that'd be far too productive.
